3D Laser scanning has become an increasingly useful technology for analyzing crime scenes and accident scenes. 3D modeled animations can be introduced at trial to "tell the story" to the jury in visual re-creation. Engineering experts and private investigator experts may testify as to how the model was developed and how it applies to the case. Experts may be hired by law enforcement agencies and District Attorney's Offices as experts, but are often times hired by Plaintiff's legal counsel in civil cases and by Defense counsel in criminal matters.
