These AI tools minimize the wear and tear on your hands and wrists by reducing your computer keyboarding time. You will spend more time investigating and less time crafting reports. 

Meet the Presenters

Jody Ahrens, Pretrial Investigations 

Jody Ahrens is the Owner and Qualified Manager of Pretrial Investigations, with three decades of experience spanning law enforcement, airline internal investigations, and criminal defense work focused exclusively on homicide and other serious felonies. Defense attorneys rely on him for rigorous discovery review, aggressive witness development, attorney-ready reporting, and expertise in Hispanic gang dynamics relevant to gang allegations and enhancements. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of North Dakota and the California Defense Investigators Training Academy, he has completed CACJ's Advanced Homicide Defense Training and teaches criminal justice as an adjunct instructor and MCLE presenter.  Jody was awarded  2026 Investigator of the Year from the California Defense Investigators Association. Jody has been a CALI member since 2022.

Edna Trigo, Top Security Solutions & Investigations

 

Edna Trigo is the owner of Top Security Solutions & Investigations. She is a an investigator and security consultant, bringing over twenty-seven years of experience from her time in the San Diego County courts and criminal justice agencies, including the District Attorney's Office victim/witness assistance, as a Defense Investigator with the Public Defender's Office and as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst for the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Ms. Trigo has produced strategic and tactical threat assessments to support intelligence-led policing in collaboration with the FBI, DHS, and local agencies to produce “Cross Border Threat Assessment.  She has worked internationally as a U.S. law enforcement representative assisting with investigating international organized crime organizations.  She has made presentations at International Conferences on organized crime and locally on threat assessment of school shootings. She has been a CALI member since 2018.  MS. Trigo has used AI tools extensively in her work and continues to develop this area of technology.
