Join us for an exclusive, complimentary webinar designed to elucidate the pathway towards becoming a Certified Professional Investigator (CPI). This session aims to provide an insightful overview of the CPI certification requirements, including a deep dive into the topics covered in the CPI examination.
CPI Examination Overview:
The CPI examination is accessible online, allowing candidates the flexibility to undertake the exam at their convenience. Additionally, in acknowledgment of popular demand, we are pleased to announce a special session for the CPI exam to be conducted in a traditional pencil-and-paper format. This session is scheduled to coincide with the upcoming 2024 CALI conference, following the conclusion of the last breakout session. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with our CPI information desk at the conference for any queries regarding the CPI certification process.

Eligibility Criteria for CPI Examination:
Candidates wishing to apply for the CPI examination must meet the following prerequisites:
• Possession of a PI license for a minimum of three consecutive years in any state.
• Submission of evidence showcasing PI-related training, active participation in CALI educational events, contribution to service initiatives, and pursuit of academic achievements within the last two years. Participation in the CALI Conference will award candidates 5 of the required 10 experience credits needed for examination eligibility.
• Achieve a passing score of 70% in the 100-question multiple-choice examination.

Anthony Hopkins Investigations
Anthony Hopkins became licensed as a private investigator in CA in 1986. Over the last 38 years, Anthony has conducted a wide range of civil investigations, employment EEO/Harassment investigations, Be grounds and criminal defense. Anthony was under contract with the Sonoma County criminal defense conflict panel for 14 years, having worked on over 45 homicide trials. Anthony served on the CALI Board of Directors for eight years, including two terms as VP of Administrative Services, and a two-year term as the Vice President of Investigative Services. Anthony has been the CPI chairperson for six years and serves on several other committees appointed by the President.
In 2021, a case involving Anthony's investigation was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court. In a unanimous ruling, the verdict was vacated and remanded. The decision set a standard restricting police officers from a warrantless entrance to a private residence on the pretext of exigent circumstances. The case is Lange v. California, 541 U.S. Supreme (2021).
